STUDENT SUPPORT AT STEM
THOUGHTFUL. RESPONSIVE. CENTERED ON GROWTH.
Support that adapts—because every learner is different.
At STEM School Highlands Ranch, we know that some students need more time, different strategies, or personalized support to thrive. That’s why we’ve built a structured, data-informed approach to help students with diverse needs succeed in an environment designed to stretch and support learners. We focus on identifying needs early, working closely with families, and providing support for success.

Supporting Students Together
You know your child best—and we value your voice.
If you’re concerned your child may be struggling, we’re here to help. We begin with listening, then review classroom data, observe learning patterns, and talk through support options with you. You’ll always be included in the conversation.
We serve students with a wide range of mild to moderate academic support needs. While our model is fast-paced and STEM-focused, we take a proactive and student-centered approach to ensure every learner has access to tools, strategies, and adjustments that support growth.
If you're unsure whether STEM is the right fit for your child, we're happy to talk openly about what we offer and how we support learning.
What Support Looks LikE
A flexible model that adapts to your child’s needs.
We use a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to provide help at different levels:
Our support team meets regularly to review data, monitor student growth, and adjust supports when appropriate.

How We Identify Needs
We act early—so students stay on track.
We use a range of data to identify when a student might need additional support:
- i-Ready assessments (administered three times per year)
- Reviews of classroom assignments and assessments to gauge progress
- Teacher feedback on progress, behaviorally & academically
- Regular meetings with teachers and support staff for collaboration and planning
This helps us respond quickly—before small gaps become larger challenges.

How Support Works at STEM
At STEM School Highlands Ranch, we know that students come to us with different needs and learning profiles. Whether your child already has a support plan in place—or you simply want to know how we help students who begin to struggle—our process is structured, student-centered, and responsive.
When a student needs academic support, we follow a step-by-step process designed to identify and address needs early:
SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL SUPPORT
At STEM School Highlands Ranch, our social and emotional support services are designed to meet the diverse needs of our students. We offer a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) that includes personalized interventions, counseling, and wellness programs aimed at fostering resilience, mental well-being, and a positive school experience.
Through targeted resources and collaborative efforts, we ensure that every student has the tools and support needed to thrive both emotionally and academically.

IF YOUR CHILD IS ENROLLING WITH A 504 OR IEP
When families enroll a student who already has a 504 Plan or an IEP, we begin by reviewing the submitted documentation and current services. Our team will assess how those supports align with what we offer at STEM and may reach out if additional information or a transition meeting is required.
We serve students with mild to moderate disabilities and aim to provide continuity of support whenever possible—within the structure of our program and available resources.
Our Special Education team includes full and part time licensed staff at each level including learning specialists (special education teachers), speech/language pathologists, school psychologist, social workers, occupational therapist, and educational assistants. If your student receives support at their current school, we encourage you to reach out to your current team and our team to determine if STEM’s learning environment is the right fit.
