STEM School Highlands Ranch had its first Technovation team compete in this year's Junior Division. A team of fifth-grade girls -- Kaley Kingman, Deeksha Armarala and Vasudha Goel - learned to design and code their own mobile app and create their own pitch video (just like a start-up).
The girls learned to create their "great idea" and flow diagrams, write pseudo code and of course, code using MIT's App Inventor. They enjoyed their experience and learned the value of hard work, creativity and teamwork. Technovation is a global competition for girls to get excited and eventually pursue STEM occupations.
