Congratulations to 8th Grader Gitanjali Rao, who was recently listed as an inventor to watch in Forbes Magazine 30 Under 30 in Science for her unique invention that detects lead in drinking water. Gitanjali was named America's Top Young Scientist last year, has won numerous other awards and distinctions. Most importantly, she has continued to work on her device, inspired by the Flint water crisis.
She truly embodies our school's motto to "Never Stop Innovating" and serves as an inspiration to other inventors across the globe. She recently returned from giving a TEDx Gateway talk in India to a crowd of more than 6,000 people. Gitanjali's portable invention - named Tethys, after the Greek goddess for fresh water - allows a sensor linked to a mobile app to analyze water quality on the spot.
