About Me

Welcome to the STEM School Highlands Ranch

INTRODUCTIONS: Having received a Masters in History from the University of Illinois, I have taught Social Studies at the middle and high school levels since 2001. I have served as Department Chair and Secondary Teacher since 2011 when the school first opened.

MY EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY: I want my students to achieve their academic potential and exceed educational standards.  Using rigorous problem-based learning strategies, STEM infusion and the latest technology, I facilitate student-centered learning activities, utilizing Game Layer Theory, professional 3D animation softwares, virtual reality, artificial intelligences, coding, robotics, Socratic Seminars, Fishbowl debates, historical research and writing, role play, educational games, and digital art projects.  While I follow the Core Knowledge and AP World History curriculums, I often team up with students and parents to create advanced individualized learning plans to meet the students' needs and interests. In my classroom, I encourage students to experiment and learn through failure, but when we often succeed, incredible innovation happens on a regular basis! The skills which my students learn will aid them in their future college and career endeavors!

CURRENT CLASSES: AP and regular World History and Archaeology.
