Teaching fell upon me by accident while substituting a required speech class for classroom laboratory
instruction during college and continued into my career in the United States Coast Guard. Since then I have been a teacher in a variety of different environments from mountain guiding to college instruction. I find that teaching brings both renewed energy and joy in the process of connecting and challenging student to learn. As a science teacher, I think the classrooms should be fun and exciting, allowing my lessons to connect to the students’ everyday life. Beyond the classroom I like to: douse everything I eat with Sriracha sauce, climb things with inoperable musical instruments, get out of the country when I can, and play under water hockey (it is a real sport!). I also more recently finished my PhD in Science Education.
