Welcome! This is my 6th year at STEM School Highlands Ranch. I celebrated the high school graduation of my first STEM students in May! It's been a joy to watch my students mature over the years except when eventually, I have to park next to them in the school parking lot. I teach 8th grade algebra and high school geometry in our middle school.
My collegiate education is in mathematics, computer information systems and finance. I have also completed masters level courses in biological sciences. Before becoming a teacher I worked for Kodak Imaging and Dow Chemical. Later, I worked in the technology industry and had the opportunity to be part of a venture capital firm that funded start-ups. I then moved to a tech start-up to experience both sides of this industry. These were exciting opportunities, but for me, they don't compare to the joy of helping students succeed in mathematics. I decided to pursue teacher licensure in 2001 and am currently licensed in secondary mathematics and elementary education.
I have been teaching in diverse classrooms for 15 years now and I feel fortunate to have fulfilled my second grade dream of becoming a teacher. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family at the drive-in, on road trips, camping (more like glamping, to be honest), and traveling. We just returned from a bucket list trip to Tokyo, Singapore and Indonesia. Yōkoso!
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. I look forward to meeting you!
