My name is Cara Phillips and I have been an Engineering teacher at STEM School Highlands Ranch since 2015. I have a passion for mentoring future engineers. I'm currently an advisor for the Technology Student Association.
I received my B.S. in Civil Engineering from Colorado School of Mines in Golden Colorado with High Scholastic Honors. I also received my M.S. in Structural Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign where I earned Outstanding Teaching Assistant from the Daily Illini. I was an adjunct instructor at Colorado School of Mines where I taught Statics, Mechanics of Materials and Structural Analysis.
Prior to coming to STEM, I was a structural engineer and project manager for various buildings across the United States. I have designed hospitals, recreation centers, higher education buildings and sports facilities.
In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis and softball. I also love to travel and camp with my two daughters, Courtney and Elizabeth and my husband Justin.
