Aligning Education and the World Place at STEM School Highlands Ranch
STEM School Highlands is Ranch is proud of its work to align experiential learning to workplace and industry. We believe that we prepare our students with both the hard and soft skills to be successful leaders in the 21st-century workplace.
Our STEM Career Discovery is the first of its kind career discovery program for high school students in Colorado. The program offers students a menu of options to explore STEM and other related fields in real-world settings that can potentially lead to an internship/apprenticeship or full/part-time job after graduation and during college. The program is open to selected students in grades 10,11 or 12 at the school.
Career Discovery begins with It's a STEM Thing, a program that invites industry professionals to the school for presentations about their careers and the path they took to get there. Next, we offer a Career Mentor Program for students in grades 10-12. Selected students mentor in their fields of interest for approximately 20-30 hours during the academic year.
Girls at STEM Mentor Program is designed for female students in grades 11 and 12 who are members of the Girls at STEM program. These students are matched with a female mentor in a STEM field based on their career interests.
The last phase of our program are "real-life" internships, both coordinated through CareerWise and directly through our school and community partners.
Grateful to Our Community Partners
Without the support and involvement of many area businesses, this kind of education/career alignment would not be possible. Following is a list of the many businesses working with our students:
